With the philanthropic mission members joined hands to start a home for home
less unclaimed mentally/physically challenged orphans and missing destitute. A
Society named as Universal Disabled Care Taker Social Welfare Society, (symbol
name Prabh Aasra) came
into being to help them. The Society came into existence on 15th December, 2003
with the projected aims in mind and got registered on 13th Feb 2004 with Punjab
Government under Societies Registration Act, 1957. The members and volunteers of
the Society are esteemed Academicians, Social Workers, High profile retired
Army/Central Government Officers and eminent Philanthropists. The Society has
mission to provide service to those persons who are unable to take care of
themselves because they are either mentally challenged or lost their mental
balance because of stress, depression, extreme cruelty, social injustice or
torture. These unfortunates can be seen stranding on the road sides in extreme
weather conditions without food, shelter and any care. These helpless persons
spend their days and nights in very inhuman conditions even worse than straying
animals. Many animals’ live pampered lives as pets in wealthy homes can be said
to be better than these unfortunates who live miserable life on pavements and
die of starvation and sickness. The members and volunteers of the Society can
not see the sufferings of these persons instead feel pain for them and respect
the human values. They make day and night efforts to see that such neglected
people do not suffer much, at least basic needs to sustain life should be
provided to them. This home for the homeless is trying its best to provide
homely environment, motherly love and care to the destitute.

Our NGO gets light from the divine principle that WE ALL ARE CREATION OF ONE GOD.
On proper medication and treatment when inmates reveal their identities their family members are traced after searching their native villages and towns on internet and contacting the concerned Police Authorities to reunite them to their families situated in any part of the country. As on date (31st March 2012) total inmates admitted to the Society are 746 out of which 513 inmates have been handed over to their families.Donation from the right thinkers and well wishers of suffering humanity is the only source of income for the Society. The Society spends almost rupees one crore annually for construction of Ashram buildings, meals, medicines, dresses, employees’ salaries, vocational trainings etc. But some problems still persist in providing required facilities for inmates’ rehabilitation due to lack of funds.
